It became known that the Proton-M launch vehicle, together with the Express-80 and Express-103 telecommunication satellites, had been successfully removed from the assembly and test building and placed on the launch pad of the Baikonur cosmodrome. Confirming this message was published on the website of the corporation “Roscosmos”.
“In accordance with the work schedule, on the morning of July 26, 2020, a space rocket was delivered to the launch complex of site No. 200 and installed in a vertical position on the launch pad (launcher No. 39)“, – said in the message” Roskosmos “.
Within a few days, autonomous tests of spacecraft, rocket, upper stage and control system will be carried out. On Tuesday, a meeting of the Technical Management will take place, and the next day, a meeting of the members of the State Commission will take place, within the framework of which a decision will be made on refueling and subsequent start-up. The very start is scheduled for July 30 at 00:27 Moscow time. Separation of the satellite “Express-80” from the upper stage should occur in 17 hours 59 minutes after the start, and in another 17 minutes the apparatus “Express-103” should separate.
As for the satellites launched into orbit, the Express-80 and Express-103 vehicles are designed to provide communication and broadcasting services in the C-, Ku and L-bands. Initially, the launch of these satellites was planned at an earlier time, but in the process of preparing the rocket for launch, experts discovered low-quality components, which was the reason for the transfer.
