Microsoft has released re-releases of all three parts of its Age of Empires strategies over the past few years. In games, including previously released add-ons, graphics have been improved, support for 4K output has been added, music has been reworked, and new modes and civilizations have been added. A trilogy called The Definitive Collection has now been released, and Microsoft has shared a trailer with press reviews.
TheSixhAxis journalists, for example, wrote: “Twenty years later Age of Empires I can still be fun as an RTS“… Vandal staff spoke about the Age of Empires II remake: “One of the best strategy games ever made is back.”… On the reissue of Age of Empires III, the Atomix review says: “Impressive update”…
The video also demonstrates updated graphics for all three parts, improved cinematic inserts, redrawn animation, and so on. The developers remind that the collection includes all previously released companies in previously unavailable quality and even more.
Windows Central called Age of Empires I Definitive Edition a great nod to the original game. PCGamesN considered the reissue of Age of Empires II the best way to play the second part of the famous strategy series. GameStar simply called the reissue of Age of Empires III a great update.
