AMD has long been making no secret of its intention to introduce graphics solutions with RDNA 2 architecture in the second half of the year that will provide support for ray tracing at the hardware level. The breadth of the assortment of new products has still remained a mystery, but now sources say that the new family will also include products of the previous generation.
The well-known blogger rogame from the pages of the HardwareLeaks resource shared information on the proposed range of AMD graphics solutions based on the Navi 21 video chip, which is considered to be the flagship product of the new generation. Representatives of the VideoCardz website systematized this information, and from a variety of modifications, when you look at the table, your head goes around. The source attributes Navi 21 to the presence of 5120 stream processors and a chip area of about 505 mm2.
I must say that this will not be limited to one Navi 21 – the family also includes a more compact Navi 23 graphics processor, which will be comparable in size to the Navi 10, on the basis of which video cards of the Radeon RX 5700 series are now produced.
The most interesting thing is that Navi 10 will not leave the scene in the fall. Its updated version will coexist with more advanced carriers of the RDNA 2 architecture. The task of Navi 10 under the current conditions will be to protect AMD’s positions in the lower price range. Based on Navi 10 Refresh, not only desktop, but also mobile graphics solutions will be created.
