Apple is about to announce at the upcoming annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2020 the upcoming move to use its own ARM chips for the Mac family of computers to replace Intel processors. This was reported by Bloomberg, citing informed sources.
According to Bloomberg sources, the Cupertino-based company plans to announce the transition to its own chips in advance to give Mac application developers time to prepare their products by the time the first Apple Mac on the ARM chip is released in 2021.
Earlier, Bloomberg announced the preparation of Apple’s first Mac based on its own ARM chip, made using a 5-nm process technology that will outperform Intel chips in the MacBook Air laptops that are now available.
It is also expected that the transition from Intel processors to ARM chips will increase battery efficiency, while Apple will reduce the cost of this category of components.
The WWDC20 conference will begin on June 22. This time the event will be held in digital format.
