The studio TaleWorlds Entertainment has published a video in which he talked about the multiplayer mode and updated mechanics of field battles in the action RPG Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord. Unfortunately, the developer has not announced anything about the approximate release date of the full version of the project.
The multiplayer mode is already in the final stages of internal testing, and with the next major update it may enter the beta version of the game.
Within its framework, there is a duel mode where you fight with other players. After joining the duel server, you can freely choose any class before spawning in the neutral zone. From there, you can start a duel, switch your class, or wander around the map and watch the ongoing battles.
The map consists of a set of arenas for dueling between all types of classes and provides you with dedicated battle space without any interruption or distraction. The fight takes place in several rounds, and the winner is the one who first took 3 rounds. When the duel is successful, the winner takes a share of the opponent’s points. This is reflected on the scoreboard where you can see who is the best.
TaleWorlds Entertainment is also working on significant changes to the mechanics of battles. It is still under development and subject to change. This system is responsible for choosing scenes for field battles depending on the location of the participants on the world map.
Currently, when a battle starts, the game checks the type of terrain on the world map and randomly selects a location from the connected map pool. In the new system, the world map was divided into regions, each of which is associated with its own area. The mechanic also takes into account the location and direction of the sides in the region and uses this to determine where each side will appear in the battle.
As the developer explained, this update is intended to provide a more immersive and strategic experience that will take the terrain into account when planning battles.
In addition, TaleWorlds Entertainment announced support for NVIDIA Deep Learning Super Sampling (DLSS) technology, which uses AI to scale images and improve the image on GeForce RTX series graphics cards without significant performance loss. It is already available in the patch 1.5.7.
Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord is currently out on PC only in Early Access. Console versions are planned to be released in the future.
