According to the studio’s estimates, the proceeds from the pre-orders of the game were able to offset all development and marketing costs. It should be noted that the project was first mentioned in 2012, and the first teaser trailer was released in January 2013. The development took about 7 years.

“The royalties we received for pre-orders of Cyberpunk 2077 from all digital distribution platforms exceeded the total costs of game-related development, marketing and promotion of the game. The budget for marketing is still in the process of spending “, – said in a statement.

The exact amount of income that Cyberpunk 2077 brought was not disclosed, as well as the total budget for the development of the game. But the corporate report CD Projekt RED, which was published on September 3, 2020, indicated the items of expenditure. Based on them, we can conclude that the budget could be at least $ 120 million. However, on November 14, analysts at the brokerage company DM BOS from Poland suggested that the budget for Cyberpunk 2077 could be $ 314 million. For comparison, the most expensive game to date is Destiny, released in 2014, with a development and marketing budget of $ 514 million.

CD Projekt RED yesterday in its Twitter account told about 8 million pre-orders of the game. 59% of all digital copies were sold for PC, making Cyberpunk 2077 the fastest selling PC game ever. At the same time, it became known today that the share price of CD Projekt RED fell by 29%. The reason for this could be numerous problems with the optimization of versions of Cyberpunk 2077 for consoles.
