Development studio Control has summed up the results of 2020 – the most successful year in its history


The Finnish studio Remedy Entertainment on its official website summed up the financial results of a surprisingly profitable 2020, for which it did not manage to release a single new game.

The past year has passed for Remedy Entertainment under the sign of support for Control: the game received two story add-ons and was released on new platforms (Steam, GOG, Switch) and services (Luna, Xbox Game Pass).

According to the CEO of Remedy Entertainment Tero Virtala, Control continues to be successfully sold – November 2020 was the best for the project in terms of digital sales.

Control debuted on PC (Epic Games Store), PS4 and Xbox One in August 2019, and in February 2021 made it to PS5, Xbox Series X and S. Since the initial release, the game has sold more than 2 million copies.

Despite the absence of new releases, Remedy Entertainment’s revenue for the reporting period was € 41.1 million (almost 30% more than in 2019), and operating profit reached € 13.2 million (+ 32.2%) – these are the best records in studio history.

In total, Remedy Entertainment has worked on 15 different projects throughout 2020. Among them: two games funded by Epic Games (about 100 people), shareware Vanguard and the CrossfireX story campaign.

By 2025, the studio intends to release “Several successful games and at least one big hit”, as well as acquire “At least three successful and growing gaming brands with long-term potential”
