There are already various readers on the market, the screen of which is made on colored electronic paper E Ink. But most of these devices are equipped with a 6-inch panel, although there used to be other models, such as the PocketBook Color Lux with an 8-inch display. The Chinese company Bigme has now reportedly created an e-book with a high-resolution 7.8-inch diagonal color screen.
The gadget was named Bigme S3. Its E Ink Kaleido screen has a resolution of 1404 × 1872 dots and provides a reproduction of 4096 color shades. For comparison: the PocketBook Color Lux panel E Ink Triton 2 had a resolution of only 600 × 800 pixels.
The Bigme S3 display supports touch control. With a dedicated pen, owners can sketch or handwritten notes. Front lighting with 36 levels of brightness is provided.
The reader carries on board an eight-core processor with a clock speed of 1.8 GHz and 2 GB of RAM. The built-in flash drive is designed to store 32 GB of information.
The operating system Android 8.1 is used as a software platform. Supports work with files of popular formats, including EPUB, Mobi and PDF. In addition, various third party applications will be available.
The gadget is equipped with two microphones and a USB Type-C port, and power is provided by a rechargeable battery with a capacity of 2000 mAh. Dimensions are 190.8 x 135.8 x 6.3 mm, weight – about 220 g.
The novelty is available in the Chinese JD store at a price of 3.5 thousand yuan (approximately $ 540 or 40.5 thousand rubles). In one of the first reviews of the device, there are “live” pictures of the screen that show how it renders colors.
