Five more games previously released by Bethesda Softworks for Xbox One have added to the list of projects that support FPS Boost technology on Microsoft’s next generation consoles – Fallout 4, Fallout 76, Prey, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition and Dishonored: Definitive Edition.
In February, Microsoft announced an update for the Xbox Series X and S consoles that will bring a new FPS Boost feature designed to provide higher frame rates for games running in Backward Compatibility mode – without developer intervention. Initially, only 5 games received support for this feature, but Microsoft has promised a phased increase in the number.
Although the technology is intended to be universal, it is fresh and certainly requires improvements and optimizations for widespread support for games. Obviously, therefore, it is necessary to conduct extensive testing for each individual edition.
The certification of these five projects for FPS Boost was announced in the latest episode of the official Xbox podcast with host Larry Hryb, aka Major Nelson on Xbox Live, and guest Xbox Senior Communications Manager Jeff Rubenstein. All 5 games were recently included in the Game Pass subscription for Xbox and PC: on March 9, Microsoft completed a deal to acquire ZeniMax Media and its video game publishers for $ 7.5 billion, after which it was announced that 20 iconic Bethesda projects were added to the Xbox subscription service.
