Final Fantasy VII Remake is the best-selling PlayStation digital release in Square Enix history

Square Enix has announced that the shipments and digital sales of Japanese action RPG Final Fantasy VII Remake have exceeded 5 million copies. In addition to this, the publisher marked another milestone: the game became the best-selling digital release on PlayStation platforms in the history of Square Enix.

In this regard, Square Enix has launched a special offer for Final Fantasy VII Remake on the PlayStation Store: until August 19, the game is on sale at a 34% discount, for 2639 rubles.

Final Fantasy VII Remake is a complete remake and reimagining of the classic 1997 JRPG. The main storyline remained the same, but it was enriched with additional stories and details about the world and characters. In addition, the project also features a hybrid combat system that combines real-time action with tactical turn-based battles.

The game is only the first episode of the whole story. The plot is set in the eclectic and sprawling city of Midgar. Former elite Shinra soldier Cloud Strife is hired by the Avalanche eco-terrorist group to conduct an important operation to blow up one of the Mako reactors. However, things don’t go quite according to plan, which is why the heroes go on a dangerous adventure that will decide the fate of the world.

Square Enix has not yet announced when the next episode of Final Fantasy VII Remake will be released.

Final Fantasy VII Remake was only released on PlayStation 4, but the exclusive agreement between Sony Interactive Entertainment and Square Enix will expire in March 2021 – then the project may appear on other platforms.
