Research by Strategy Analytics suggests that the global Bluetooth wireless headphone market continues to expand, driven by fully wireless submersible (TWS) models like the Apple AirPods and Samsung Galaxy Buds.
It is estimated that in 2020 more than 300 million Bluetooth headphones of all types, including full-size on-ear models, were sold globally. At the same time, the TWS segment recorded almost two-fold growth: sales here soared by almost 90%.
The largest supplier of TWS headphones is Apple, which controlled more than a third of the industry at the end of 2020. However, as analysts note, the share of the “apple” company in this segment is decreasing under pressure from competitors.
The top five TWS industry players, in decreasing order of share, also include Xiaomi, Samsung, Huawei and Realme. Together, the five companies hold about two-thirds of the industry.
Strategy Analytics emphasizes that the market for Bluetooth wireless headphones is far from saturation. Therefore, sales of such products will continue to grow this year.
