Vivo today officially unveiled a new proprietary Android interface skin called Origin OS. The new software is significantly different from Funtouch OS, which up to this point is pre-installed on the smartphones of the Chinese company. In addition to visual updates, the new shell has become even more productive.
Vivo has redesigned all elements of the operating system. In Origin OS, users will see a completely new desktop grid, dynamic wallpapers. The notification system has been significantly redesigned. The software adapts to the user’s habits and displays only those notifications that are important at the moment. Thanks to this, the smartphone once again does not bother the owner with advertising banners, while not missing important messages.
Origin OS has added new intuitive navigation gestures that take smartphone control to a whole new level. The new skin is reported to support 26 new gestures. In addition, Origin OS has a convenient multi-window mode. Separately, it is worth noting the updated widgets, which have become more informative and are in complete harmony with the rest of the interface elements.
In terms of productivity tools, Origin OS includes the Multi-Turbo 5.0 software package, which offers the user technologies such as memory pooling, process optimization, and application preloading. The former combines RAM and ROM in a special way, thanks to which, according to Vivo, the experience of using a smartphone with 8 GB of RAM corresponds to that of phones with 11 GB of RAM. And thanks to preloading, the smartphone is able to speed up cold start applications by about 40 percent.
These are just the main innovations of Origin OS. In addition, Vivo has significantly redesigned its camera tools, increased gaming performance, added new capabilities for virtual and augmented reality applications, and many other useful and convenient features.
