In the first year of GeForce Now’s operation, users spent 175 million hours playing games, and in Russia the most popular were Fortnite, Rust and CS: GO


Nvidia has released a press release that shared its first year after the launch of its GeForce Now cloud gaming platform. Users have spent millions of hours playing games, and the most popular projects with multiplayer. Nvidia believes that the cloud gaming market will show even more impressive results in the coming years.

Perhaps the most striking achievement was the timing – users played games on GeForce Now: 175 million hours a year! Of these, 100 million hours are spent on multiplayer online games, the ten most popular of which include:

  • Fortnite;
  • League of Legends;
  • Destiny 2;
  • Apex Legends;
  • Rocket League;
  • Warframe;
  • Dota 2;
  • Path of Exile;
  • Counter Strike: Global Offensive;
  • World of Tanks.

In addition to online gaming, GeForce Now subscribers have spent a lot of time on projects from indie developers – a whopping 16 million hours. The five most popular are:

  • ARK: Survival Evolved;
  • Rust;
  • 7 Days to Die;
  • Unturned;
  • Phasmophobia.

GeForce Now now supports over 800 different games from 300 different publishers. By the way, in Cybperpunk 2077, released in December, gamers spent a total of 4 million hours. Most often, GeForce Now was played on Windows PCs, Mac OS, Android smartphones and Chromebooks. The company notes that within a year the platform became officially available in 65 countries. Where Nvidia has yet to provide proprietary support for the service, GeForce Now Alliance partners provide access.

Nvidia also prides itself on integrating RTX (real-time ray tracing) technology into the service. The greatest amount of time in games with the support of this technology, gamers spent in Cyberpunk 2077, Metro Exodus, Control, Watch Dogs: Legion, Shadow of Tomb Rider.

The GFN.RU project, which is a member of the company’s alliance, also shared the results of 2020. GFN.RU notes an increase in the duration of gaming sessions – in March this figure was 1.1 million hours, and in December it doubled to 2.2 million hours. In April, after the introduction of self-isolation, a record was set for active users – 132,325 people. The most popular games among Russian users are:

  • Fortnite;
  • Rust;
  • Counter-Strike: Global Offensive;
  • Dota 2;
  • World of Tanks;
  • Apex Legends;
  • Destiny 2;
  • The Witcher: Wild Hunt;
  • Warface;
  • War Thunder.

By the way, in Rust, a gamer from St. Petersburg set a personal best, having played 5294 hours, that is, more than 220 days.
