According to ASRock’s official website, Intel is about to update its Xeon W series of workstation processors. The new items are built on the Cypress Cove architecture, which, we recall, is used in the recently introduced Rocket Lake desktop processors.
According to ASRock’s technical support page, Intel will unveil the Xeon W-13XX series of chips for the LGA1200 platform. It will include five models with different base frequencies, the amount of cache memory and the declared TDP level. Three of them – Xeon W-1390, Xeon W-1390T and Xeon W-1370 – are eight-core solutions. In turn, the Xeon W-1350 and Xeon 1350P models are six-core chips. The list also includes the Xeon W-1390T with a nominal 35W TDP, which is an energy efficient 80W version of the Xeon W-1390.
The flagship model of the Xeon W series of workstation processors will offer a base frequency of 2.8 GHz, which is 400 MHz lower than the Xeon W-1290 based on the previous architecture. In addition, the new chip will receive two cores and four virtual threads less than its predecessor.
ASRock has already released new BIOS versions for motherboards based on Intel Z490 and H470 chipsets, as well as motherboards based on the W480 dedicated workstation chipset, which now support the new Xeon W-13XX series processors.
Recall that on April 6, Intel will share details about the third generation of Xeon Scalable server processors, codenamed Ice Lake-SP. At the same time, the manufacturer is expected to announce new Xeon W-series chips.
