Gartner: spending on IT in the world in 2020 decreased by 3.2%, but in 2021 will grow by 6.2%

Gartner experts predict that global IT spending in 2021 will grow by 6.2% to $ 3.9 trillion.

In the past 2020, IT costs in the world decreased by 3.2%, despite the fact that the media are full of examples when the pandemic increased revenue in one or another market segment and led to an increase in sales of certain
products.

The rise in IT spending this year is closely related to the return of the economy to normal operation after the pandemic.

Gartner believes that sales of equipment for data centers will grow by 6.2% this year, sales of enterprise software will add 8.8%, sales of hardware and equipment of all kinds will increase
by 8%, and revenue from the provision of IT services will grow by 6%. The telecommunications segment will also add.

Investing in digital business transformation will remain, as Gartner expects, a top priority for the industry through 2024. In particular, the growth in popularity of cloud computing will continue,
companies will redouble efforts in the field of digitalization of business processes, the increased interest in information security will remain unchanged. The user experience will become the sacred cow, as before.

For 2022, Gartner predicts growth in the following segments of the IT market: sales of equipment for data centers are expected to add 3.4%, sales of enterprise software will soar by a significant 10.2%, sales
hardware and equipment of all kinds will increase by 1.3%, and revenue from the provision of IT services will grow by 6.3%. The telecommunications segment will also add, it is expected to grow at the level of 3.3%.
