The Games Industry portal shared information on sales of retail editions of games in the UK during the period from 23 to 29 August. Despite the abundance of new releases, the situation in the ranking has not changed much.
Of the three projects released last week, only two made it to the top 40 (Madden NFL 21, Project CARS 3), and there was only one in the top ten – the American football simulator Madden NFL 21 (10th place).
Thus, Wasteland 3 did not make the list at all. It should be noted that the ranking does not take into account sales in digital services, much less activated copies in the Xbox Game Pass service.
Madden NFL 21 debuted 43% worse than its predecessor, and initial sales of Project CARS 3 (17th place) sank 86% compared to the second part and were on par with the recent Fast & Furious Crossroads.
As for the leaders of the rating, they remain Animal Crossing: New Horizons and PGA Tour 2K21. The golf simulator held its second place despite a 28 percent drop in sales.
Games Industry hopes that the coming week will be more fruitful for the UK retail: Marvel’s Avengers, Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 + 2 and NBA 2K21 are expected to premiere on September 4.
The top 10 UK retail charts from 23 to 29 August are as follows (last week’s result in parentheses):
- Animal Crossing: New Horizons (1);
