In the last century, Matrox was famous for its own graphics processors, but this decade has already changed the supplier of these critical components twice: first to AMD, and then to NVIDIA. Introduced in January, Matrox D1450 4-HDMI motherboards are now available to order.
The specialization of Matrox products today is limited to components for creating multi-monitor configurations and video walls. The D1450-E4GB series graphics cards are optimized for their respective needs. The single-slot board has four full-size HDMI ports, each capable of displaying images at 4096 x 2160 dots at 60 Hz refresh rate. An undefined NVIDIA GPU sits next to 4GB of GDDR5 memory.
Since 2014, we recall, Matrox has been cooperating with AMD, and at the beginning of this it announced rival NVIDIA as its strategic partner. It took several months to prepare for the start of shipments of the D1450 family of graphics cards, but now products with four HDMI ports can be ordered from Matrox. A video card with dimensions of 201 × 127 mm occupies the space of a single expansion slot, is installed in a PCI Express 3.0 x16 slot, is content with a cooling system with a single fan and a power consumption level of no more than 47 W.
With the help of proprietary cables, four such video cards can be combined in one system, providing an output of the image immediately to 16 displays. Armed with Matrox QuadHead2Go adapters, you can expand the number of displays up to 64. True, the resolution of each will not exceed 1920 × 1080 pixels. The proprietary software provides ample opportunities for managing multi-monitor configurations; the cost of Matrox D1450-E4GB graphics cards has not been specified.
