MediaTek to unveil flagship smartphone processor in early 2021

About a week ago, Qualcomm introduced the flagship chip for smartphones – the Snapdragon 888 product. As it became known, MediaTek will soon announce its response, as announced by the executive director of this company Cai Lixing.

The MediaTek high-end smartphone processor will debut ahead of the Chinese New Year, which will be celebrated on February 12, he said. In other words, the chip will be officially unveiled within two months.

Unfortunately, the head of MediaTek did not go into details about the product. According to rumors, the processor will include high-performance ARM Cortex-A78 cores, and the solution will be manufactured at TSMC using 6-nanometer technology. Of course, the new product will include a 5G modem.

The upcoming processor will lead the Dimensity family. Now at its top is the Dimensity 1000+ chip, which contains quartets of ARM Cortex-A77 and ARM Cortex-A55 computing cores, an ARM Mali-G77 MC9 graphics accelerator and a 5G modem.

It should be noted, however, that most of the flagship smartphones of 2021 will use the aforementioned Snapdragon 888 platform. Devices on it are prepared by ASUS, Black Shark, Lenovo, LG, Meizu, Motorola, Nubia, Realme, OnePlus, OPPO, Sharp, Xiaomi and ZTE.
