Micro-Star International has introduced a new budget series of Twin Fan graphics accelerators. At the moment, it includes only one GeForce RTX 3070 model.
It is difficult to understand which of the previous episodes was replaced by the Twin Fan version. For the Armor series, it looks too simple, it does not look like the updated Aero series either.
According to the resource VideocardzThe Twin Fan may represent a new incarnation of the Taiwanese manufacturer’s budget TOC series, which hasn’t been updated since the release of NVIDIA Pascal graphics cards (GeForce GTX 1000 series models). At least the sticker on the fans of the new GeForce RTX 3070 model hints at this.
Meanwhile, the Twin Fan series will be presented with video cards with reference characteristics, as well as a slight factory overclocking. For example, for the presented GeForce RTX 3070 model, the declared GPU frequency in Boost mode is 1740 MHz, which is only 1% higher than the reference value. For all other indicators, the novelty repeats the reference version.
On the technical side, only the printed circuit board stands out. In Twin Fan models, it has a non-standard design and is equipped with a set of 8 and 6-pin auxiliary power connectors.
However, the configuration of video connectors in the cards of the new series is usual – there are three DisplayPort and one HDMI.
Early leaks indicated that the MSI Twin Fan series will also be replenished with the GeForce RTX 3060 Ti, which NVIDIA will unveil in a few days. It is also built on the GA104 chip, but with fewer CUDA cores. It is very likely that the younger model may lose the second additional power connector.
