NVIDIA renamed its acquired Mellanox Technologies to NVIDIA Networking over the weekend. As a reminder, the acquisition of the telecommunications equipment manufacturer Mellanox Technologies was completed back in April this year.
NVIDIA announced its plans to acquire Mellanox Technologies in March 2019. After a series of negotiations, the parties came to an agreement. The deal was worth $ 7 billion.
Previously, it was argued that the merger of the two leaders in the HPC and data center market will enable NVIDIA to provide customers with greater computing power utilization while increasing performance and lower operating costs. NVIDIA’s latest quarterly report showed that the server business generated more revenue for the company than gaming graphics cards. But so far this victory cannot be called final.
By the way, the Mellanox website now redirects visitors to the official NVIDIA website, and also reports that Mellanox Technologies has changed its name and is now NVIDIA Networking.
