Studio 343 Industries has confirmed in the Official Halo Blog that testing of the PC version of Halo 3: ODST will begin in the first half of this month. According to the developer, players will be able to try out campaign missions and multiplayer arenas.
Halo 3: ODST takes place concurrently with Halo 2, in 2552. The Covenant has invaded Earth, and you will take on the role of an ODST soldier nicknamed the Newbie, find comrades in New Mombasa and repel an alien attack. Halo Insider subscribers will be able to test the following campaign missions: Mombasa Streets, Tayari Plaza, Uplift Reserve, NMPD HQ, Data Hive, and Coastal Highway.
Halo 3: ODST’s multiplayer feature is Firefight, in which players battle waves of AI opponents to score points and survive for as long as possible. Upcoming testing will include the following maps: Crater (Night), Rally (Night), Crater, Lost Platoon, Windward, Chasm Ten and Last Exit. In addition, players will be able to customize the appearance of their Spartan and will have access to the “Theater” mode.
The stated goal of testing is to collect feedback, test distribution systems and Firefight, and ensure that the rest of Halo 3: ODST is functioning properly.
Halo 3: ODST was released on the Xbox 360 in 2009 and on the Xbox One in 2015. The PC version should go on sale soon as part of Halo: The Master Chief Collection.
