OnePlus Nord will receive a camera with optical stabilization and a new packaging design

A new detail has become known about the upcoming first smartphone of the new OnePlus Nord family (more affordable, but powerful enough devices). According to Ishan Agarwal, the phone will receive an optical image stabilization system. This article was republished by Carl Pei, co-founder of OnePlus, commenting β€œFlagship Camera Coming“.

Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) is a feature commonly found in flagship smartphones. Some phones claiming the flagship title sometimes do not even have such a function, so it is not surprising that OnePlus is especially proud of its integration into its mid-range device.

OIS is more likely to take sharper photos by compensating for hand shake. This is especially useful in low light conditions and when shooting video. Although modern software stabilization technologies sometimes do surprisingly well at these tasks, OIS remains a useful feature.

In addition, packaging images of the future phone were also published. The OnePlus Nord box will be made in black with a blue accent – previously, the company’s devices were delivered in white or red packaging (orange in the case of McLaren Edition). At the top of the box is the OnePlus logo in the corner, and the word β€œNord” is written several times in larger print. On the side is written OnePlus.

The box is designed so that the buyer sees the turquoise color of the inside. This is the same color that OnePlus uses for its logo in the Nord family, although the logo on the box itself is not the same color. In one of the published images, OnePlus shows the strength of the box when two people stand on it. Some liked the idea, while others did not appreciate it, saying that they do not care how durable the packaging is.

The launch of OnePlus Nord is expected on July 21 as part of the world’s first augmented reality smartphone announcement.
