Resource LetsGoDigital has discovered OPPO patent documentation for a new smartphone, which will feature a front camera hidden directly behind the display.
Information about the new product was published on the website of the China’s National Intellectual Property Administration (CNIPA). The patent illustrations give an idea of the construction of the apparatus.
The device does not have a visible selfie camera, although the screen has fairly wide bezels at the top and bottom. The fingerprint scanner is also not visible – it can be integrated directly into the display area.
The multi-module rear camera is enclosed in a circular area. The four optical elements are arranged in an inverted T; there is a flash underneath.
Smartphone specifications are not provided. We can only highlight the presence of a symmetrical USB Type-C port. There are physical control buttons on the left and right sides of the case: they have a special design, thanks to which they do not stand out visually.
Unfortunately, nothing has been reported about the possible timing of the release of a commercial device with the described design.
