The volume of the world market of technologies designed to ensure the security of communication networks of the latest (5G) generation, at the end of 2020 amounted to $ 580 million. In the coming years, this
the segment expects dynamic growth, and after a 5-year period its volume is expected to increase by an order of magnitude. This is reported by a study by the consulting agency MarketsandMarkets.
Operators of 5G networks will have to tackle ever-increasing security challenges – both for public telecommunications networks and dedicated ones deployed within
enterprises and designed for digitalization and automation of technological processes. The number of attacks on the Internet of Things (IoT) is predicted to increase from malware targeting
for extortion and blackmail, as well as the number of hacker attacks on critical information infrastructure (IT systems of various government agencies, financial institutions, fuel and energy
complex) around the world. The number of wireless connections to devices supporting IoT technology will increase significantly, paving the way for the mMTC machine-to-machine communication scenario with
increased safety requirements.
All these factors, together, will lead to a very noticeable increase in sales of solutions that ensure the security of 5G networks in the global market – according to analysts, this indicator will grow, in
on average, by 44.3% per year. And if by the end of 2020 the volume of sales of such solutions and services reached $ 580 million, then by 2026, in accordance with forecasts, it will exceed $ 5.226 billion.
The highest growth rates during the forecast period, as experts expect, will demonstrate the “cloud” deployment of 5G security solutions and services, affordable, flexible, easy
scalable and cost-effective, helping organizations avoid hardware, software, storage and technical staff costs.
Companies using 5G networks with autonomous architecture (5G Standalone, 5G SA) for robotics, big data analytics, industrial IoT, augmented reality (AR), and so on, will need
mechanisms for the security of the entire 5G network.
In 2020, which ended, according to experts, the Asia-Pacific region provided the largest volume of sales of services and services for protecting 5G networks. Maintaining its leading position for
the next 5 years will be facilitated by the active deployment of 4G and 5G technology networks and the dynamic development of infrastructure in such countries of the region as Japan, South Korea, Australia, Singapore,
China and India. For example, China, Australia and Japan have launched several 5G-related projects; providing growth opportunities for 5G security solution providers
in the APEC region.
