Procedural Generation, No Multiplayer, No Showtime In The Near Future: New Starfield Details

Bethesda Game Studios CEO Todd Howard, in an interview with Games Industry, has shared new information about the ambitious sci-fi RPG Starfield.

First, Howard assured that Starfield is a purely single-player experience with no multiplayer elements envisioned. The single focus of the project was discussed earlier, but not so categorically.

Secondly, the developer has confirmed that procedural generation will be involved in Starfield (and The Elder Scrolls VI at the same time). The technology will provide much more extensive locations than, for example, in Fallout 76.

Thirdly, the head of Bethesda Game Studios mentioned that the promised large-scale redesign of the engine at the heart of Starfield will affect rendering systems, animation, artificial intelligence, procedural generation and other aspects.

Additionally, Howard explained why Bethesda Game Studios has been slow to showcase Starfield to the public. Let us remind you that the debut teaser of the project last June turned two years old.

“We like to show as much as we can how the final product will look and feel, closer to release, when we are fully confident:“ Look, this is what [игра] does and when you can play it ””Howard said.

So far, Starfield has no release date or target list. In light of Microsoft’s acquisition of Bethesda Softworks, the game is expected to be an Xbox console exclusive and will not appear on PlayStation.
