Qualcomm Technologies has announced its fourth generation Snapdragon Automotive Cockpit platforms for smart, connected cars. Advanced solutions were presented at the online event, and cars based on them will appear in the next few years.
The fully scalable Performance, Premiere and Paramount platforms are designed to build entry, mid, and premium vehicles, respectively. At the heart of the Qualcomm solutions presented are 5-nanometer processors that provide a high level of performance with low power consumption.

The announced platforms are based on Snapdragon processors, which contain Kryo cores and the Adreno graphics accelerator. The fourth generation of the Snapdragon Automotive Cockpit platform features improved graphics, enhanced multimedia capabilities, and more advanced computer vision and artificial intelligence technologies that will allow the vehicle to better navigate the terrain and adapt to user preferences.
The new generation platforms support the connection of more than ten high-definition displays, some of which may be part of the multimedia system, while others will be used for other purposes. The platforms also provide the ability to connect multiple high-definition cameras to capture what is happening inside and outside the vehicle. Improved AI capabilities will enable greater personalization of the system, more natural voice control, speech understanding, monitoring of driver and passenger activities, and more.
The first cars based on Qualcomm’s new platforms are expected to be unveiled in the next few years.
