It became known that Roskomnadzor abandoned the idea of forcing new users of social networks and instant messengers to indicate their data during the registration process. RIA Novosti writes about this with reference to the words of a representative of the department.
The message says that the requirements to request passport data and place of residence when registering on social networks and instant messengers were deemed excessive. The interlocutor of the agency stressed that this data will not need to be indicated even in cases when the user provides his consent to the processing of personal data through the information system of the department.
Most of the amendments to the law on personal data, which were adopted at the end of last year, entered into force this month. In accordance with the new rules, data operators must obtain consent from users to process publicly available information about them. At the moment, such consent can be provided directly to the data operator, and from July 1, the Roskomnadzor information system will be used for this.
Earlier this week, Roskomnadzor published a draft order that defines the rules for the system for collecting user agreements. Among other things, it said that if the user chooses the system of the department, registration will take place by filling out an interactive form of the information system. It was assumed that in order to register, the user would need to indicate his full name, details of the main identity document, residence address, telephone number and email address.
Now a representative of the department said in an interview with reporters that the data set presented in the draft order is redundant. Based on this, the corresponding corrections were made to the document. Now it provides for the possibility of entering and processing only information that is contained in the Unified Identification and Authentication System. Accordingly, the collection and processing of additional data will not be allowed.
