It became known that Russia is planning to create a reusable launch vehicle designed to protect the Earth from falling space bodies. It is assumed that the first tests of the rocket will take place in 2028. Information about this was published on the website of the Energomash Research and Production Association, which is part of the state corporation Roscosmos.
“At present, SUSU (South Ural State University) is studying the issues of the possibility of creating a reusable single-stage space launch vehicle, the project of which was proposed by the State Rocket Center. Academician V.P. Makeeva. The launch vehicle will deliver up to seven tons of payload to low-earth orbit. The time of interflight maintenance of the rocket will be only 24 hours“, – it was said in the message of the enterprise.
The published message says that the implementation of this project requires “fundamentally new technical solutions“. It is planned to carry out work aimed at a significant increase in the efficiency of the propulsion system. This will be dealt with by the specialists of JSC NIIMash, who have already begun to develop a project to prepare and conduct a corresponding experiment.
It is noted that the space complex project is being implemented by the Ural Interregional Scientific and Educational Center “Advanced Industrial Technologies and Materials”, which was created to combine the potentials of educational and scientific organizations of the Sverdlovsk, Chelyabinsk and Kurgan regions. It is assumed that the first prototype of the launch vehicle will be tested in 2028.
