The appearance of the new Russian super-heavy carrier rocket Yenisei will be changed. This is reported by RIA Novosti, referring to information received from the state corporation Roscosmos.
The named rocket is planned to be used in the implementation of future long-term and complex space missions. These are, in particular, projects for the exploration of the Moon and Mars. It is planned to create the necessary infrastructure for the launch vehicle at the Vostochny cosmodrome.
“Based on the results of the technical project in terms of the appearance of the super-heavy class space rocket complex, its ground space infrastructure and production facilities for its components, adjustments will be made to the tactical and technical tasks for the creation of a super-heavy class space rocket complex.“, – said representatives of Roscosmos.
Earlier it was said that Yenisei will be built on a modular basis. The first stage will be based on five or six blocks, which are the first stage of the Soyuz-5 medium-class rocket (with the RD-171MV engine). For the second stage, it is planned to use the RD-180 engine. And the third stage is proposed to be borrowed from the Angara-5V heavy-lift missile.
Now it is reported that the appearance of “Yenisei” will be corrected – changes in the draft design are planned to be made in the current and next years. In particular, the possibility of lengthening the rocket’s central block is being studied.
