Ryzen 5 5600X confidently outscores Core i5-10600K in SiSoftware benchmarks

We previously reported that AMD’s flagship Zen 3 based Ryzen 9 5950X processor showed a very decent performance boost over the previous generation Zen 2 based Ryzen 9 3950X flagship in the SiSoftware Sandra synthetic benchmark. Now it’s time to compare the performance of the younger model of the new Ryzen 5 5600X series with its direct competitor, the Intel Core i5-10600K in the same test.

Recall that the Ryzen 5 5600X has six Zen 3 cores with twelve virtual threads, has 32 MB of L3 cache on board and operates in the frequency range from 3.7 to 4.6 GHz. In turn, the Intel Core i5-10600K is also equipped with six cores and 12 threads, has 12 MB of L3 cache and operates with a frequency range from 4.1 to 4.8 GHz.

As you can see, the maximum frequency of the latter in the automatic overclocking mode is higher than that of the AMD processor. In addition, the Intel chip has a higher thermal design power (TDP) of 125W. For Ryzen 5 5600X, in turn, the declared TDP level of 65 W. In theory, the Intel Core i5-10600K should be faster than the competitor due to the wider TDP range. However, the Ryzen 5 5600X outperforms it in all tests of the SiSoftware Sandra benchmark, at least due to the larger amount of cache memory.

In arithmetic tasks, according to SiSoftware, the AMD chip scored 255.22 GOPS, and in multimedia tasks it showed a result of 904.38 Mpix / s. For the Intel Core i5-10600K processor, the results in the same tests were 224.07 GOPS and 662.33 Mpix / s. Thus, the superiority of the Ryzen 5 5600X over the Intel chip in the first test is 13.9%, and in the second – 36.5%, respectively. For comparison, the Ryzen 5 3600X based on the Zen 2 architecture scores 214.89 GOPS in SiSoftware arithmetic tasks, and 625.51 Mpix / s in multimedia tasks. It turns out that the new Ryzen 5 5600X is faster than its predecessor by 18.8% and 44.6% in the respective tests.

Of course, it would be premature to draw conclusions based on one SiSoftware Sandra benchmark, but the test makes it possible to understand at least an approximate level of performance of the new AMD chip. As a reminder, the Ryzen 5000 series of processors will go on sale on November 5. The Ryzen 5 5600X has a MSRP of $ 299.
