Samsung Electronics and SK Telecom announced the successful development and testing of the next-generation 5G core: the backbone provides the ability to quickly deploy customized services so operators can make better use of network resources.
The new solution is based on the 3GPP Rel. 16. It is assumed that the implementation of the platform will facilitate the deployment of qualitatively new systems based on 5G – from virtual and augmented reality applications to cloud games and self-driving vehicles.
Samsung’s 5G cloud core, for example, offers modular and containerized networking features that allow you to quickly launch new services on a commercial network while reducing operating costs.
SK Telecom has created a cloud-based Service Communication Proxy (SCP) solution designed to improve the management of its fifth generation mobile networks. The system intelligently controls the communication of network functions based on the status and behavior of traffic, which saves resources.
For example, at peak loads, it will be possible to quickly build up bandwidth to flexibly adapt to sudden changes in networks. It is claimed that the use of SCP can increase the efficiency of interaction between network functions by 30%.
