Samsung came up with a clamshell smartphone with a flexible screen “inside out”

The United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) has granted Samsung a patent for a new smartphone with a flexible display. Perhaps the device with the proposed design will soon appear in the assortment of the South Korean giant.

As you can see in the illustrations, we are talking about a device with a screen “inside out”: when folded, this panel is on the outside. At the same time, the device itself takes on an almost square shape.

A special mount allows you to fold the smartphone not only in the middle, but also with an offset. In the second case, either the camera or the additional speaker in the back of the case remains open. At the same time, the rear section of the screen can be used as a viewfinder for shooting self-portraits or to control the process of playing multimedia materials.

On the side of the case visible physical control buttons. At the same time, the connectors are not shown in the illustrations.

The patent application was filed in January last year, and it was issued this month. On the possible timing of the emergence of a commercial smartphone based on the described design, nothing is reported.
