Samsung came up with a flexible smartphone with an original folding system

The US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) in the early days of this month issued a patent to Samsung for another smartphone equipped with a flexible display.

This time we are talking about the device in the format of the classic “clamshell”, in which a vertically elongated screen is folded inside the case. This protects the panel from damage during everyday use.

There is a curious feature. The device can be folded not only in the middle, but also with an offset. In the second case, a small part of the display remains visible: various notifications, useful information, messages, etc. can be displayed here.

In the back there is a single main camera. A front camera and / or a fingerprint scanner can be installed under the screen. Thus, the smartphone will be able to identify users by facial image and fingerprints.

The patent application was sent in March last year. It is possible that a smartphone with the described design, but some technical changes, for example, with the addition of a multi-module camera, will appear in the future in the assortment of the South Korean giant.
