The American Segway became a household name after the release of its first hoverboard that took the world by storm. Since April 1, 2015, it has become part of the Chinese Ninebot, and now the company has decided to try itself in a more traditional business, presenting the eMoped C80 smart electric scooter at the Indigogo microinvestment site.
The company has developed the intelligent RideyGo! for eMoped with features such as AirLock to wirelessly lock the vehicle via the Segway-Ninebot mobile app, NFC key interaction, intelligent passenger detection and auto-lock mode. Segway managed to raise more than $ 150,000 in 12 hours after launching a microinvestment campaign and over $ 274,000 in two days.
The Segway eMoped is equipped with various sensors under the seat and will automatically lock within 3 seconds after the user leaves it. However, the block timer can be customized to suit individual preferences. Also, if the driver sat down incorrectly, eMoped will not let you move.
The Auto Cruise function in the Segway-Ninebot App and the multifunction button on the right side of the moped allow you to select the desired speed for a smooth and comfortable ride. The Segway eMoped is equipped with front disc and rear drum brakes and promises driver safety during sudden stops.
The front suspension fork and spring-loaded shock absorber in the center are designed to provide a comfortable ride on rough roads. With a 1152 Wh Li-ion battery, this eMoped can drive up to 85 km on a single charge. The declared maximum speed is 32 km / h. The battery weighs only 6 kg and is removable. The total weight of the moped reaches 55 kg.
Among the features can be noted the built-in alarm with different sensors and notification of the owner by smartphone (and you can track the position even via GPS and LBS). The security system includes lights, a loud signal and automatic wheel locks.
The Segway eMoped C80 on Indiegogo is $ 1899 for US buyers.
