PCs are back in fashion, but hard times await the industry ahead. Due to the remote work and study, many purchased laptops, but, as Canalys experts expect, global sales for the year are not
save: supplies of desktop PCs, laptops and tablets will decrease this year by 7% from 396 million devices in 2019 to 368 million in 2020. Market growth is expected no earlier than 2022, and even then by 2%.
Demand for laptops jumped for a short time, and in the long run the device update cycle may slow down. According to Canalys analysts, the market is expected in the second quarter
decline in sales.
With regard to regional characteristics, Canalys experts believe that in China in 2020, sales of desktop PCs, laptops and tablets will decrease by only 3%. In 2021, an increase of 4% is expected.
PC shipments in North America will decline by 6% in 2020, market recovery is expected no earlier than 2022.
In Europe, in the second half of 2020, a collapse in demand for PCs is expected, in general, according to Canalys experts, in Europe, the PC market will shrink by 10% over the year.
The biggest losses are expected in Latin America, where sales by the end of the year will decrease by 16%.
