It is reported that in the third quarter of this year, sales of smart displays jumped compared to the same period in 2019 by 21%, reaching 9.5 million units. At the same time, shipments of traditional smart speakers with voice assistant fell by about 3%.

Against this background, the entire market for gadgets with an intelligent voice assistant for the year increased by 2.6% – to 36.5 million units. In the total volume of supplies, smart displays accounted for 26% versus 22% a year earlier.

It is noted that the most popular smart displays for the last quarter were the Amazon Echo Show 5 and Baidu Xiaodu Zaijia 1c devices. At the same time, it is Amazon that leads the global market for gadgets with a voice assistant in general: the share of this company was 28.8%.

Analysts say the global smart speaker industry was hit hard by the pandemic earlier this year, but then began to recover. Significant growth is expected in the current quarter.
