The authoritative Taiwanese publication DigiTimes, citing industry sources, said yesterday that Apple is starting a second phase of development of branded smart glasses. The company is reportedly working to reduce weight and improve battery life for Apple Glass. This indicates that Apple has decided on the specifications, functionality and key features of the device.
It is assumed that the second phase of the development of augmented reality glasses will take several months. The third phase will include six to nine months of engineering verification of the device. This period is necessary to identify design flaws and eliminate software errors. It is assumed that information and objects of augmented reality will be displayed directly on the lenses in front of the user’s eyes. Mark Gurman of Bloomberg previously reported that the glasses are unlikely to be released until 2023.
Apple is reportedly also working on an augmented reality headset. At an internal meeting of the company, it was announced that the device could be announced in 2021 and launched in 2022.
