Craftsmen of iFixit continue to explore the anatomy of the latest mobile gadgets: this time, they have prepared the “smart” wrist watch Apple Watch Series 6, the official presentation of which took place just a week ago.
The device, we recall, is equipped with an always-on display Retina and 64-bit Apple S6 processor with two cores. Versions available in sizes 40 and 44 mm. The watch has new sensors for functions such as blood oxygen measurement and improved sleep monitoring.
As shown by the autopsy, the Watch Series 6 boasts an improved battery compared to the previous generation. So, the battery capacity of the 44-mm version is 1.17 Wh, and the 40-mm version is 1.024 Wh. That’s 3.5% and 8.5% more than the Watch Series 5 in the same size options.
It is noted that replacing the display is possible, but it is fraught with a number of difficulties. Moreover, it is important to note that a ZIF-connector is used to connect the screen. In addition, the battery can be replaced if necessary.
Tiny fasteners can be difficult to remove. In addition, some of the cables are connected directly to the S6 chip case, which requires certain micro-soldering skills.
The watch’s maintainability is rated six out of ten on the iFixit scale. More details on the disassembly process can be found here.
