Sony has officially announced that the announcement of a new device in the Xperia family will take place on September 17, 2020. The event will be streamed live on Sony’s official YouTube channel. The event starts at 9:00 CEST (10:00 Moscow time).
Traditionally, Sony presents new devices at the annual IFA exhibition, which takes place in Berlin in early September. However, given the ongoing coronavirus pandemic and the restrictions imposed in connection with it, the Japanese company decided to hold an online event similar to the previous online announcements as part of the presentations prepared for MWC 2020.
Sony is expected to announce at the upcoming event the flagship smartphone Xperia 5 II (Mark 2), a render of which was published yesterday by blogger Evan Blass. The Sony Xperia 5 II is rumored to be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 (or Snapdragon 865 Plus) processor, 8GB of RAM and 256GB of flash storage, as well as a quad camera with ZEISS optics.
It is possible that the event will feature other new products from the Japanese manufacturer. In addition, you can expect more detailed information about the Xperia PRO 5G smartphone, which the company announced back in February this year, but it is still not on store shelves.
