Sony is preparing a successor to the Sony WF-1000XM3 wireless headphones, released in 2019. This is confirmed by a photo of the new headphone model of the Japanese company, published by the resource MyDrivers. According to the resource, the photo shows the WF-1000XM4 wireless TWS headphones.
The new earbuds differ from their predecessor in more compact dimensions and shape, so that they fit comfortably in the ears, similar to the Samsung Galaxy Buds Pro model or the Sony WF-XB700 TWS earbuds released last year. Additional convenience of the novelty is given by the use of memory foam for the liners.
Also in the photo on the headphone case you can see a cylindrical component, the purpose of which is still unknown. Most likely, we will have to wait for the official announcement of its purpose – after all, it could be a charging port, a microphone array for active noise cancellation, or something else altogether.
Like the previous model, the novelty supports the active noise cancellation system. Due to the fact that practically nothing is known about the WF-1000XM4, one can only assume that it is more efficient than that of the WF-1000XM3.
As the resource The Verge noted, there is no mention of the new model in the databases of regulatory bodies such as the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), therefore, its announcement will take place no earlier than in a few months.
