The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation (Ministry of Defense) announces the successful launch of the Soyuz-2.1b medium-class launch vehicle with a military spacecraft.
The rocket was launched on February 2 at 23 hours 45 minutes Moscow time from the Plesetsk cosmodrome in the Arkhangelsk region. It is noted that all pre-launch operations and the launch itself went without complaints.
The satellite has already been launched into the target orbit and accepted for control of ground-based facilities of the G.S. Titov Main Test Space Center of the Aerospace Forces. A stable telemetric connection is maintained with the device, and its on-board systems are functioning normally.
“More than 50 combat crews and over 40 ground-based spacecraft control systems, systems and complexes for collecting, processing and displaying telemetric information from individual command and measuring complexes of the Main Test Space Center named after G.S. Titov were involved in ensuring the launch of the spacecraft.“, – the message says.
Nothing is said about the purpose of the satellite. But it is known that the device was assigned the serial number “Cosmos-2549”.
We add that this launch was the first launch of the Soyuz-2 carrier, carried out in 2021 from the Plesetsk cosmodrome. The previous launch of the Soyuz-2 rocket from the northern cosmodrome took place on December 3, 2020.
