Square Enix recently announced that Hawkeye will be joining Marvel’s Avengers as an additional character after the game launches. Fans are already imagining who the developers can add more, and Spider-Man is by far one of the most popular wishes. And maybe a friendly neighbor will indeed appear in the upcoming action, but not for everyone. Major online retailer Base.com on the Marvel’s Avengers page pointed out: Play Spider-Man Exclusively on PlayStation 4… The statement has already been removed but can be found in the web archive.
Spider-Man’s exclusiveness to Marvel’s Avengers for PlayStation 4 users only makes sense. Sony owns the rights to the hero in the film industry, and has also worked closely with Marvel to create the action-adventure Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales and a full-length sequel to Peter Parker. The question is, will Square Enix take such a risky move? After all, Marvel’s Avengers are not as enthusiastic as they are.
Everyone will be able to try out the game itself in the second half of August – open testing of Marvel’s Avengers will take place from 21 to 23 August for all platforms. However, PlayStation users will get access to it before others: from 14 to 16 August.
Marvel’s Avengers will talk about the breakup of the Avengers team after a crushing defeat against Taskmaster. Young superheroine Miss Marvel (aka Kamala Khan) will try to put them together again to fend off a new threat – MODOK, who wants to rid the world of super powers. Heroes available from the release include Ms. Marvel, Hulk, Black Widow, Thor, Iron Man and Captain America.
The action-adventure game will go on sale September 4, 2020 on PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4, and will also be released on Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5.
