Japanese fighting game Tekken 7 from Bandai Namco has taken a new psychological bar. The series’ director Katsuhiro Harada stated on Twitter that the game has sold over 6 million copies. In March 2015, Tekken 7 was released for arcade slot machines, and only in June 2017 followed the launch for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.
Most recently, in February, Tekken 7 was reported to have sold over 5 million copies. The game is very popular among fans of the genre: for example, on Steam, it boasts a very positive rating: with more than 25 thousand reviews, 86% of people expressed approval.
Tekken 7 is currently in its fourth season. Recently, during a broadcast at the Tokyo Game Show 2020, the developers unveiled the next character, which will be available as DLC – it was the mysterious Kunimitsu in a cat mask, one of the old fighters in the series. Also, the creators promised a new arena “Crimson Gate” and the release of another new character and level in the spring.
Incidentally, Katsuhiro Harada stated that the total sales of Tekken series fittings exceeded 50 million units. The first part was released back in 1994 on arcade machines and then was transferred to the original Sony PlayStation.
