Bandai Namco has released the Tekken 7 season 4 trailer and announced Kunimitsu as a new character that will appear as part of the DLC. At the beginning of the video, a cinematic insert is shown: the heroine defeats Master Raven, and then defeats Yoshimitsu.
The second part of the video demonstrates the gameplay of the battle between Kunimitsu and Yoshimitsu, and at the end, Bandai Namco publishes its plans for the development of the 4th season of the game. In addition to Kunimitsu, fans will receive a new arena called “The Crimson Gate” in the fourth quarter of this year. Then, in the spring of 2021, another new character and level is promised. You can also look forward to new moves, an improved user interface, an updated ranking system and optimized online gameplay as free updates for everyone.
For the uninitiated, we note that Kunimitsu is a mysterious treasure hunter and a former member of the Manji clan, in which she was together with Yoshimitsu and was expelled from there. She hides the upper half of her face with a cat mask. The heroine was a playable unlockable character in the original Tekken fighting game, and most recently appeared in 1995’s Tekken 2, although she has also appeared in the non-canon Tekken Tag Tournament games. Here’s the ending with Kunimitsu from Tekken 2:
All of this makes Kunimitsu’s appearance in the canon version of Tekken 7 extremely interesting for fans of the Tekken universe. It is curious that for the first time she even takes off her mask at the end of the video and throws the words to the defeated Yoshimitsu that she expected more from the stories of her mother. Apparently, Kunimitsu in Tekken 7 is the daughter of Kunimitsu in Tekken 2.
Tekken 7 is available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC (Steam).
