Tesla announced Thursday that it had temporarily relocated 20 employees to the SpaceX aerospace company, also led by Elon Musk.
Musk is the CEO of Tesla, as well as the founder, CEO and chief technology officer of SpaceX, although the companies are registered as independent entities.
What SpaceX employees will do in SpaceX and how long it will last is unknown. Tesla only said in a document sent to the regulatory body that SpaceX would pay her compensation for this in the amount of $ 0.1 million.
While Tesla’s headquarters are in Palo Alto, California, and SpaceX is based in Hawthorne, California, there are many links between them. For example, Tesla’s board of directors includes Ilon Musk and his brother Kimbal Musk, SpaceX top manager Antonio Gracias, who said he did not want to be elected to the board next year, as well as venture investor Steve Jurvetson who leaves Tesla’s board of directors but remains at SpaceX.
SpaceX also puts some full-time employees at Tesla’s disposal, including an assistant assistant at the office of CEO and vice president of materials engineering at both companies, according to their LinkedIn profiles.
SpaceX and Tesla are collaborating in other areas. In April, Tesla announced that it was selling automotive components for SpaceX and using its processing plant to manufacture tools supplied by SpaceX.
