Jerome Guillen, president of Tesla’s production department, said construction of a new Gigafactory near Austin, Texas, USA “is picking up steam.” And the automaker has already announced a large number of job openings for Gigafactory Texas.
After last month Tesla finally decided on the site for its next US plant, which will be located near Austin, the company began to rapidly expand construction.
The contractor has already occupied the site and has commenced excavation work to clear space for construction to begin.
Initially, Tesla used its core team to promote the project in Texas, which also dealt with other gigafactories, but now the company needed to hire a local team of specialists to build the Gigafactory and launch production later.
“Giga Texas is in full swing! Many vacancies. Matt is a senior executive looking for supply chain experts for large scale construction. Apply if you are interested, feel qualified and want to participate in the project for life!“, – posted an ad on LinkedIn by Jerome Guillen
“Matt” – Matt Burkholder, Tesla’s director of global supply chain management, is currently building a new supply chain management team for Gigafactory Texas.
Tesla has currently posted about 40 new job openings for Gigafactory Texas. Most of these are related to the construction of a new plant, but Tesla is also looking for environmental engineers, supply chain managers, automation engineers, mechanical engineers, plant design engineers, and many other specialties.
Already at the end of next year, the company plans to launch production of the Cybertruck electric pickup and Tesla Semi truck here. It will also produce Model Y and Model 3 electric vehicles.
