the authors of Absolver will release a hand-to-hand action movie Sifu

The independent French studio Sloclap (Absolver), as part of the State of Play news program last night, announced a new project – a hand-to-hand third-person shooter Sifu.

Sifu tells the story of a young kung fu student who trained for eight years until the day he gets revenge on a mysterious squad of assassins for the brutal massacre of his entire family. The hour of reckoning has come.

The developers offer players to track down the killers one by one, along the way exploring different parts (suburbs, back streets, corporation towers) of a fictional Chinese city.

On the way to the goal, the hero will have to rely on his skills. The unique, according to the authors, Sifu combat system combines elements of projects of the beat ’em up genre and three-dimensional action games.

In addition, the user has at his disposal a magic amulet that revives the protagonist after death. With each return to life, however, the character is aging noticeably.

Sifu promises strategic gameplay (positioning and using the environment for their own purposes) and “Difficult fights”as well as appealing to classic kung fu movies with a visual style and a muted color palette.

Sifu is being created for PC (Epic Games Store), PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. The project is expected to be released later this year. The developers will share additional details and materials in the coming weeks.
