AMD announced the new A520 chipset for the most affordable motherboards back in mid-June. Now it became known when the boards based on it will go on sale. Moreover, some of the upcoming new products have already appeared in the assortment of Western stores, thanks to which their prices have become known.
On the virtual counter of the American store Newegg, the ASUS Prime A520M-K motherboard was discovered, and it was priced at $ 76. She is a typical entry-level motherboard.
There is a power subsystem with six phases and without cooling radiators, a PCIe 3.0 x16 slot and two PCIe 3.0 x1, SATA III and one M.2 ports, as well as two DDR4 DIMM slots. Remarkably, it claims support for RAM with a frequency of up to 4600 MHz in overclocking, which is atypical for entry-level motherboards.
Note that the predecessor of the described motherboard – Prime A320M-K – in the same store costs a little less – $ 64.35. From the point of view of equipment, they differ little from each other, except that the power subsystem of the older motherboard is weaker. Separately, it should be emphasized that motherboards based on A520 will not be able to offer support for PCI Express 4.0. However, their advantage lies in guaranteed compatibility with the next generation of Socket AM4 processors.
Newegg promises to start shipping ASUS Prime A520M-K customers on August 19th. As the date of the official start of sales of motherboards on AMD A520, network sources name August 18, that is, the next Tuesday. On this day, manufacturers will present their new products on the new AMD chipset. Most models should cost less than $ 100.
