Back in May, the Japanese studio Arc System Works announced the postponement of the premiere of its fighting game Guilty Gear: Strive due to COVID-19 from the end of this year to the beginning of the next, then confirming the release immediately on PS4, PS5, arcade machines and PC. Now the developers have released a new teaser and named the exact release date – April 9, 2021.
At the same time, those players who have issued pre-orders will be able to immerse themselves in an anime-style fighting game with elements of hand-drawn animation three days earlier – from April 6. Pre-orders will also give you special skins for the characters of Sol and Kai. There will be three editions: the basic version, the Deluxe edition (a seasonal pass with 5 fighters, 2 arenas, 5 costumes and an additional scenario) and Ultimate (plus a music album). Closed beta testing on Sony consoles is promised in early 2021.
The developers also confirmed the new fighter – Giovanna, and hinted that they will talk about the next one, Anji Mito, in the trailer, which will be shown on the first day of 2021. The company has confirmed that the game will launch 15 characters in its original lineup, two of which have yet to be announced.
By the way, in August Arc System Works introduced two new characters for Guilty Gear: Strive in the person of the veteran of the series Leo Whitefang (with two two-handed swords) and a completely new – Nagoriyuki (a techno-samurai-vampire wielding a huge sword). Arc System Works calls Guilty Gear: Strive “Complete reconstruction of the series”promising a next-level fighting game with significant gameplay and design improvements.
