Last September, China overcame an important milestone. For the first time, a Chinese company itself has developed a manufacturing process for the release of DDR4 10-nm class memory and has begun mass production of chips. Today, on the basis of these products, fairly inexpensive and high-quality memory modules appear in the country, which makes China a little independent from foreign DRAM manufacturers.
As we reported, the breakthrough was made by the company ChangXin Memory from Hefei. This manufacturer is releasing 19nm 8Gb DDR4 chips. Ten days ago, for example, the use of ChangXin chips in memory modules for desktop PCs and laptops was announced by one of the largest memory manufacturers in Taiwan, ADATA, and this is worth a lot. But Chinese companies are also in a hurry to start selling memory modules on domestic DRAM chips.
According to Chinese sources, the local memory manufacturer, Gloway, began selling notebook memory modules DDR4-2666. Issue price: $ 32 for the 8 GB version (228 yuan) and $ 60 for the 16 GB (428 yuan). This is not the ultimate dream when looking for the cheapest memory modules today, but the price definitely gravitates to the lower limit, which is good news. In Russian retail, a 16-GB DDR4 module can be easily found for $ 70 and, having worked, for $ 65. Therefore, the price of $ 60 for the 16 GB DDR4 bar in China does not seem too low, but the pricing principles are encouraging.
Gloway SO-DIMMs are available in the Gaming Pro family with timings of 19-19-19-43 and a 1.2 V supply voltage. Gloway Gaming Pro DDR4-2666 memory uses an 8-layer PCB, supports XMP 2.0 and is compatible with AMD platforms and Intel. Soon also on sale will be the memory modules of this company for desktop PCs.
